Some questions about Contact model

Hello everyone! I am a freshman about TCAD and Devsim. In the learning process of some testing in the Devsim, I found that many contact model use the “material=metal”. I want to know what means about it. And I am also confused about the contact model. What does it do in the simulation process? Could anyone give me some explantion. Thank you very much!

Thanks for your interest. Contact material is for information purposes only. It is only documented in the release notes of the software:

Regions also have a material, which can be used for looking up values for use in the models.
https://devsim.net/parameters.html#material-database-entries

The material database feature has not been used very much. Most people use “parameters” on regions, as opposed to the material database.
